The distance
Across much of the state there is no skin specialist for hundreds of miles, and reaching one can mean a small plane, a ferry, and days away from home. Distance is only part of it. The harder gap is awareness, knowing what a condition is, that it has a name, and that real treatments exist. Skin to Summit is built to close that gap. Clear, plain-language episodes that help patients understand their own skin and help rural clinicians recognize and talk through what they see, with the current treatment landscape laid out fairly and without the jargon.

The Aurora Program
Skin to Summit teaches. The Aurora Program connects. It is the hub-and-spoke network being built to carry that knowledge into care, linking rural clinics and the communities they serve to specialist dermatology through teledermatology. Education gives patients and clinicians the words for what they are seeing. The Aurora Program gives them somewhere to go next.

Teledermatology brings the consult to the community, so distance is no longer the deciding factor.
